Synopsis:
They were identical in every way
Until the unthinkable tore them apart
Isolte and Viola are twins. Inseparable as children, they've grown into very different adults: Isolte, a successful features writer for a fashion magazine with a photographer boyfriend and a flat in London, and Viola, desperately unhappy and struggling with a lifelong eating disorder.
What happened all those years ago to set the twins on such different paths to adulthood? As both women start to unravel the escalating tragedies of a half-remembered summer, terrifying secrets from the past come rushing back - and threaten to overwhelm their adult lives...
Review:
The synopsis of this book had me REALLY interested and I was desperate to read it.
The first chapter of this book had me thinking this would be a good one for me.Unfortunately I couldn’t have been more wrong. I still, even after just finishing it, have no idea what-so-ever what the plot is!
At first I thought the book might have been a slow starter and the confusion would ease the further I got in. Wrong again.
The book is made up entirely of different flash backs from both of the twins without any introduction or discernible pattern. I spent most of my time confused as to who I was listening to and what age they were, where they were etc. By the time I’d figured it out we were onto another flash back or POV. Not for me, sorry.
I scored this a disappointing 2 out of 5 stars!
Ouch... Hey, I have a book for you about twins. "Her Fearful Symmetry" by Audrey Niffengger! If you don't mind some magical realism or a touch of fantasy mixed with some light horror, you might like this. Niffengger is an amazing writer.
ReplyDeleteNiffenegger - sorry. She wrote The Time Travelers Wife. Here's my review https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2015/04/23/twins-and-ghosts/
